Dubuque Police are investigating two burned crosses found early Wednesday morning. Around 4:30, officers responded to a call about burning items near 22nd and Washington streets, but did not find anything.
Later at 9:30, police responded to another report and found two makeshift crosses, damaged by fire, in the same area.
Dubuque Police Chief Mark Dalsing says his goal is to keep residents informed.
Dalsing says hate crimes rarely happen in Dubuque, and no hate crimes have been reported there since the early 1990's.
