Quad Cities Hosts Statewide Arts Conference

For the first time, the Quad Cities will host an Illinois state conference to celebrate the arts. The One State Together in the Arts Conference is the only statewide multi-disciplinary conference for artists and arts leaders.

Quad City Arts Executive Director, Carmen Darland, says the more than 250 conference attendees will be treated to a wide variety of artworks by local talent.

"When you walk in the door to attend this, or to be a part of it, you will see performers," said Darland. "You will hear singers, you will see instrumentalists, you will see art being created, we're going to create sculpture, all during the conference."

Joe Taylor, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, hopes attendees to the convention will share their Quad Cities experience with others.

And as tehy go home to their business places and their homes and their families, we want them to be talking about the great experience they had here," said Taylor. "The abundance of art, culture, heritage events, and resources we have here. And we want them to be good ambassadors for the Quad Cities, and specifically for arts in the Quad Cities."

The One State Together in the Arts Conference will be held at the i wireless Center in Moline from June 23rd to the 25th. The conference is held every two years.
