A long career in health care will end next year. UnityPoint Health has announced president and chief executive officer Bill Leaver will retire in January.
Leaver has led UnityPoint Health, formerly known as Iowa Health System, since 2008. And before that he served as president and ceo of Trinity Regional Health System in the Quad Cities for five years.
In all, he's worked for 35 years in health care administration.
UnityPoint also says his successor will be Kevin Vermeer, who's currently executive vice president and chief strategy officer.
Unity Point is the 13th largest non-profit health system in the US, with 4 1/2 million patient visits, 30,000 employees, and annual revenue of 3.7 billion dollars.
