The city has reopened its compost facility and plans to reopen Union Station today.

Nicole Gleason, Public Works Director, is asking drivers and others to continue to obey "road closed" and "detour" signs.

"We will be opening roads again just as soon as the water recedes and we're able to get those streets cleaned. We don't want people driving on them ahead of them being reopened because there could be debris on the road. If there's still water over the road, we don't know if there's a pothole or sinkhole, things like that. People need to remain diligent. I know everyone is anxious for everything to reopen, but we really want to make sure it's safe before people traverse those roads."

Gleason doesn't expect all of River Drive to reopen for a couple of weeks.

But Davenport Public Works does have a few plans for this week:

  • River Drive between Bridge and the Bettendorf border is now open.
  • West 2nd Street between Division and Gaines should have reopened Tuesday.
  • Several businesses have reopened in the Freight House and Union Station. It's a good idea to call before you visit.
  • The Davenport farmer's market will be held at the Scott County Administration building again this weekend. (It'll return to the Freight House on May 20th.)
  • And River's Edge is set to reopen today.
