Katz is the Medical Director of the Scott County Health Department.

Dr. Louis Katz also says the best defense against COVID-19 hasn't changed. That includes wearing masks indoors in public places, social distancing, and vaccinations. He says up-to-date on coronavirus vaccinations means three shots, maybe four.

No one can predict the effects of the next coronavirus variant or the next pandemic. And Katz thinks "we got lucky" with omicron which could have been much worse. "We dodged a bullet...It ain't over. I wish it was."

Similar to last spring, Katz says warm weather will give us a reprieve. And he will continue to check statistics and studies every day.
