As the Rock Island School District prepares to begin the fourth quarter, it'll hold a community forum on Sunday to talk about the upcoming changes and answer questions.
Superintendent Reginal Lawrence says students have been going to school, in-person for two, half-days each week. But starting next week, they'll have the option to attend for four half days.
"With a larger number of our staff being vaccinated, with a positivity rate being lower than it's ever been before, less than three per cent, we still felt - you know COVID is still out there we're not 100 per cent in the clear."
Family surveys show 51 per cent want their kids to choose the new option of in-person classes four days a week, 20 per cent will only send their children two days a week, and 28 per cent will keep their kids home for remote-only learning.
Doctor Lawrence's virtual community forum will be held Sunday night at 6:30, with log-on information available on the school district's website.
Monday will be a professional development day for staff, with students starting the fourth quarter of the school year on Tuesday.
