Deere and Company has a new partner to help make sense of "big data" collected by farmers. This month, the company announced the new venture with a Colorado company called DN2K.
Michelle O'Neill reports it stands for Data Into Knowledge.
Summary
Deere is an advanced tech company. Barry Nelson, from the Ag and Turf Division, says it needs DN2K as farming goes through a revolution.
The company's tractors, combines, and planters are equipped with sensors to measure machine performance, field conditions, precise locations, and other variables.
Farmers upload that information to Deere's platform, My John Deere, and soon they'll be able to share the massive amounts of data with DN2K's software platform, My Ag Central.
Susan Lambert, CEO of DN2K, says My Ag Central will make it a lot easier to make sense of data from different kinds of machines and devices. It'll be especially useful to large operations.
Farmers will always be in control of whether to share information, what they share, and who to share it with.
