The Alternating Currents Festival Starts This Weekend

Alternating Currents Festival

A variety of musical and comedy acts are coming to the Quad Cities this weekend.

The Alternating Currents Festival will include over one hundred performances including comedians, musicians, films, and artists, at 30 venues in downtown Davenport starting this Thursday.

Jason Gilliland is the Director of Events for the Downtown Davenport Partnership and one of the festival's organizers. He says the inspiration for Alternating Currents was the desire to create an event that would also help the community.

"We're using existing businesses and we put stages inside of them. And so we want people to go and explore the downtown and spend their dollars with those businesses."

Gilliland says the variety and pace of the festival is a great chance to get out this weekend and find a new favorite artist or venue.

"That's a big part of this, is that exploration of not only our downtown, but of all of the talent that's at the festival. And so it's just a really fun time to get out and find some good entertainment."

The festival runs from Thursday to Sunday, August 19-22. A schedule of events and locations is available at alternatingcurrentsqc.com, or on the Alternating Currents app.
