Union Workers Vote on New Deere Contract Sunday

Today, John Deere union workers will learn the details of a tentative contract before voting on Sunday.

On its website, the United Auto Workers Local 865 in East Moline says an agreement summary will be available for pick up at the union hall.

Union members will get access to a special website that includes:

  • Contract summary
  • Copy of the agreement that highlights all the proposed changes
  • Video about proposed benefit changes
  • Benefits calculator.

The ratification vote will be held on Sunday after a presentation about the UAW Deere Labor and Benefits Agreement.

The union members have been working under an extension of the old, six-year contract which was set to expire on October 1st.

The proposed agreement would cover around 10,000 employees at twelve Deere plants in Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas.

Radio Iowa reports the six-year proposed contract includes a minimum starting wage of $19 an hour.

On Sunday, UAW Local 281 in Davenport and Local 865 in East Moline will hold their ratification votes at 10 a.m. at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline.

UAW 74 in Ottumwa will hold its vote at 10 a.m. at Ottumwa High School.

UAW Local 450 in Des Moines (Ankeny) will hold its vote at 10 am at Saydel High School.

UAW Local 838 in Waterloo will hold its vote at the UNI McLeod Center at 11 a.m.
