Vikings Prepare for New Season

The new season begins in two weeks for the Augustana College football team, and coach Steve Bell is looking forward to a better year. The Vikings finished with a record of 4 and 6 a year ago, during his first season in Rock Island.

Bell says one of the keys for this season is finding a replacement for quarterback Sam Frasco - last year's conference offensive player of the year. Two sophomores are competing for the job.
But he's happy there are many returning players on defense.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
