Davenport now has a road map to permanently improve its response to floods on the Mississippi River.

Last week, the city council approved the new Flood Resiliency Plan.

Public Works Director Nicole Gleason says the first phase includes a lot of underground work on storm sewers but also raising streets.

The city hired consultant, H. R. Green, to complete the study for all nine miles of riverfront and help determine what flood control measures to install and where.

Gleason says Davenport's comprehensive flood plan includes mitigation partnerships.
