Marissa Soliez of the Salvation Army says she’s seen a lot of new faces.
“We are facing that pandemic poverty, so a lot of the families that we do have currently… have (not) ever dealt with homelessness before.”
Since the pandemic began, the Salvation Army has provided over 330,000 meal boxes to families in the Quad Cities.
Soliez says the charity is a Christian organization, but all faiths are welcome.
“As we are very much a Christian-based organization, we do not discriminate. So if you are in need of, whether it be financial assistance, one-time assistance, maybe you’re behind on utility bills, or maybe you need a rental deposit, we definitely don’t discriminate.”
Through a partnership with Hy-Vee, the Salvation Army has raised an additional $5,000 and over 1,000 donations to its food pantry.
