The second arch on the new I-74 bridge was set in place Wednesday morning, and ironworkers are securing it with more than 4,000 bolts. The goal is to complete the Illinois-bound bridge and open it to traffic by the end of the year.
It's part of the $1.2 billion I-74 project, which also includes nearly eight miles of interstate in the Quad Cities.
On Twitter Wednesday afternoon, the bridge project team tweeted this photo with the caption, "When you gotta go, you gotta go," followed by a laughing smiley face and toilet paper emojis.
