A Pleasant Valley man faces charges in connection with a fatal boating accident last summer. Tuesday Iowa Conservation Officers announced 44 year old James Thiel is accused of involuntary manslaughter, reckless use of a watercraft, and other charges.
Early in the evening of August 16th, two boats collided on the Mississippi River near LeClaire, killing 52 year old Anita Pinc and 61 year old Craig Verbeke, both from Moline. One other person suffered minor injuries.
Thiel turned himself in Tuesday morning.
Involuntary manslaughter is a felony, while the other charges are misdemeanors - including reckless use of a watercraft and operation of an un-registered watercraft.
