Now that hospitals and clinics have resumed elective surgeries, the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is asking for donations again. Herb Trix reports.

CEO Mike Parejko says demand for blood has increased compared to two months ago.

"Over the last six weeks, demand dropped to 60% of normal levels.

As activity increases in hospitals served by MVRBC, patient need has returned to approximately 80% of pre-pandemic levels."

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has three locations in the Quad Cities.

It's based in Davenport and serves 115 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri.

It's also asking groups to start scheduling mobile blood drives again. Go to bloodcenter.org for locations to donate and make an appointment. The phone number is 800.747.5401.
