Recycling Changes for Scott County Center

Scott County Waste Commission

Some changes are in effect if you want to recycle wrapping paper and boxes left-over from Christmas. The Scott County Area Recycling Center in Davenport is closed while under construction. But, visitors can still drop off recyclables.

Starting this week, the Recycling Center will only be accessible from the Carey Avenue entrance. And, drop-off containers will be located in front of the center, instead of behind it.

Electronic waste and fluorescent light bulbs should be taken to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility, which is now only accessible from East 59th Street. It cannot be reached from the Carey Avenue entrance.

The Hazardous Materials Facility on Carey Avenue is closed. Residents should take hazardous materials, including oil, to the Scott Area Landfill.

The Scott Area Recycling Center is under construction while it switches from a "dual stream" to a "single stream" system. The change will allow residents to dispose of all recyclables together in one container. More types of plastic will also be accepted.

The Recycling Center in Davenport will re-open next summer (2016).
