Davenport's top employee has agreed to resign, on certain conditions. At tonight's city council meeting, alderman will vote on a proposal for City Administrator Craig Malin to step down.
Last week, Mayor Bill Gluba asked for Malin's resignation, after discovering an undisclosed incentive with the developer and contractor of the new casino in north Davenport. It included 2 million dollars the city would pay to grade the site.
Alderman at Large, Jason Gordon says if the agreement is approved, Malin would be paid up to 230,000 dollars for his current salary, as well as additional fees. If Malin doesn't find a job in 12 months, he could be given up to 310,000 dollars.
Initially, several Davenport alderman refused to attend a special meeting called by Gluba last week, regarding Malin's resignation.

But, Gordon says those questions led to an agreement.
Also at tonight's meeting, alderman are expected to appoint Assistant City Administrator Corri Spiegel as Interim. Gordan says the council may change some of the roles outlined in the position, to better fit an interim.
And next, the Davenport City Council will form a committee and begin a national search for Malin's replacement.
