A man from central Illinois is suspected of robbing a credit union in Bettendorf last week. On Monday police issued a warrant for the arrest of 32 year old Anthony Brown of Bloomington, and he was arrested at his home on Tuesday.
Brown is charged with robbery and theft for the August 18th robbery at the Ascentra Credit Union on Grant Street in downtown Bettendorf.
A man gave a note to a teller demanding money, did not show a weapon, and was last seen heading west from the credit union. Police say evidence at the credit union help them identify the suspect, then a car and other items at his home connected him to the robbery.
Brown is being held in the McLean County jail, awaiting extradition back to Iowa.
