Thanks to the nationwide re-structuring of the National Guard, the Iowa National Guard is making some changes. And those changes will mean some additional soldiers for both the Clinton and Dubuque armories.

Iowa Guard spokesman, Colonel Greg Hapgood, says the 45 members of an infantry unit now based in Clinton will move to Dubuque. And they'll be replaced by 55 members of a new supply company.
The numbers in Dubuque will rise from the current total of 150, up to 250.
Hapgood says these changes also mean more opportunities for women in the Iowa National Guard - following the recent Pentagon announcement that women are now eligible for all roles in the military if they qualify.

The re-structuring in Iowa will also mean some changes for units based in Cedar Rapids and Fairfield.
