The Mississippi River continues to fall, and should reach flood stage in the Quad Cities by Thursday. The National Weather Service says Tuesday morning, the river measured seven-tenths of a foot over flood stage.
The Mississippi crested here on April 11th and 12th, at three feet over flood stage then began to fall slowly, dropping a foot last week, and another foot over the weekend.
And as a sign that the worst may be over, work began Tuesday morning to remove the temporary floodwall in Davenport along River Drive, between Iowa and Perry streets.
