"Moderate" Flooding in the QC

Tuesday's Miss. R. level

The Mississippi River is causing moderate flooding in the Quad Cities area, but it probably won't go any higher for at least a week. The National Weather Service says the river is 1.3 feet over flood stage Tuesday,  and should hold near that level, or slightly below, until early next week.

It should also hold at Tuesday's level in Muscatine, 1.7 feet over flood stage, until early next week.

The Rock River is causing moderate flooding. It's cresting at nearly 3 1/2 feet over flood stage at Joslin, and 1.8 feet over flood stage at Moline. It should drop below flood stage at both locations by Sunday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
