The Mississippi River is rising, and will hold at, or near, flood stage through the weekend.
The National Weather Service says the river is 1 1/2 feet below flood stage Monday in the Quad Cities. It should rise a little more, maybe 3-tenths of a foot by Tuesday night, and then hold at that level through Sunday.
The forecast is nearly the same at Muscatine. The Mississippi is 1.4 feet below flood stage, and after rising a couple of tenths of a foot, will also hold steady through the weekend.
The river is near flood stage at New Boston and Keithsburg, but shouldn't rise very much. While at Burlington it's three-tenths of a foot over flood stage already and that's where it should stay through Sunday or Monday.
