The electric and gas utility serving the Quad Cities is part of an effort by major companies fight climate change. Today at the White House, the owner of MidAmerican Energy, Berkshire Hathaway, helped launch the American Business Act on Climate Pledge, along with Alcoa, Apple, Google, Walmart, and others.
Leaders of those companies met with Secretary of State John Kerry, to show their support for what they call "a strong outcome" during the international climate negotiations scheduled for later this year in Paris.
MidAmerican says it already owns more wind generation capacity than any other utility in the country, and is committed to adding substantially to its capacity over the next two years.
Headquartered in Des Moines, the company serves electric and natural gas customers in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
