Wednesday night, Kewanee residents will discuss whether two school districts in the city should merge into one. The Regional Superintendent for Henry, Stark, and Bureau Counties is hosting a meeting to discuss combining the Kewanee and Wethersfield districts.
Bruce Tossell is Chairman of the Committee of Ten, a group that supports combining the two. He says that would create better opportunities for students in Kewanee.
If the consolidation plan is approved by the school boards and the state, voters will make the final decision in November.
Tossell says the purpose of the meeting is to give Kewanee residents details about the consolidation plan, including the cost and possible timeline for a merger.
