St. Vincent's Athletic Complex in Davenport
Saint Ambrose University

Several years of planning, fund-raising, and construction are finally starting to pay off for Saint Ambrose University. The public is invited to visit the new Saint Vincent's Athletic Complex on Saturday in Davenport.

Director of Athletic Facilities, Tony Huntley, says the complex will be shared with Assumption High School. And so far it includes a practice field and a game field for football, lacrosse, and soccer, and what he calls a "state-of-the-art" softball diamond.
Future additions to the complex will include bleachers, locker rooms, and offices, plus another football and soccer field with a track.

The very first inter-collegiate game, for men's lacrosse, was played at the new complex Thursday.

The open house Saturday will start with a blessing of the facility at 11 am, followed by a football scrimmage at 11:30, then a men's lacrosse game against DePaul at 3 o'clock. Huntley emphasizes construction is still going on, and parking is very limited.

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
