The End of the Loop

A unique Quad City bus service has ended. Since its launch in February 2010, The Loop has carried more than 30,000 riders back and forth between the downtown shops, restaurants, attractions and entertainment venues in the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities.

But this year, The Loop will not resume operations as usual on May 1st.

Project Manager Becky Passman says The Loop was funded by a 3-year grant to the City of Bettendorf from the Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program, and the money has been exhausted.

The four orange Loop busses have been added to the regular transit fleet. Passman says the service was valuable to the community but with growing competition from other transit providers, it was not sustainable.

It will definitely be missed.

Passman says The Loop and its partners want to thank the thousands of riders and community groups who supported the service over the years.
