The Quad Cities will be the starting point this fall for a new interstate bike tour. It's called the "Will B. Rolling to Ben Bikin" tour, and it will start in Port Byron and travel 220 miles to Sparta, in southwest Wisconsin.

Port Byron Mayor Kevin Klute says local bike organizations are on board for the tour, but some details still have to be worked out.
Klute says their goal is to connect Port Byron, on the Great River bike trail, with Sparta that's known as the "Bike Capital of America."

The tour will last six days with about 10 hours of riding each day.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
