Despite some last minute worries, the Salvation Army did reach its holiday fundraising goal in the Quad Cities.
The Red Kettle campaign raised 794,000 dollars - far beyond its original goal of 760,000.
At the end of December, the campaign had only reached 86 per cent of the goal.
Each year, money raised during the holidays accounts for about two-thirds of the Salvation Army's annual budget - to help the homeless with shelter and food, rent and utility assistance, nursing home visits, and other services.
