Students and adults who play instruments will benefit from a new relationship with the River Music Experience in Davenport.
Communications Director, Alex Burkamper, says last year, Phyllis Miller, the former director of the Community Youth Band retired. In addition, members didn't have a place to practice.
The group is for student musicians who are home-schooled and go to private schools. And it's open to students who've already had some instrumental music lessons. Adrienne Varble, a music teacher from Muscatine, will direct the Community Youth Band which will start rehearsing at the River Music Experience on October 2nd.
Members of the Quad Cities KIX Orchestra will also benefit from a new relationship with the RME.
Steve Little is the leader of the group which mainly plays big band music. It played at Falbo Brothers Pizzeria before it closed.
The KIX Orchestra is open to all musicians regardless of age and ability. Its first rehearsal at the RME will be on October 16th. Then the orchestra will play every 3rd Tuesday from 7 until 9 pm, and the public is welcome.
