The 10th annual College Invitational art exhibition is on display at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport through Aug. 12, 2018.

Students from eight different area colleges and universities have submitted their best artwork, from Augustana College, Black Hawk College, Western Illinois University, Knox College, and Monmouth College in Illinois, and from St. Ambrose University, Scott Community College, and Clinton Community College in Iowa.

Gail Ray as awarded the first-place prize for her entry entitled "Entertaining Angels Unaware", a series of three wood, oil, and found object sculptures. Listen to our conversation here about the nontraditional path she took towards a second career in the arts, the skills she learned through the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges' Blong Technology Center, and her fascination with portraiture and the human figure. You can also click on the photo at the top of this page to open a slideshow of Gail's work, and visit her Instagram account for even more of her art.
