Spokesman Tom Austin says the Quad Cities gained 7,300 jobs during the past year, with big increases in leisure and hospitality, manufacturing, retail, and construction. The only sector with losses was education and health services.
"Due to holiday breaks that industry sometimes does measure some declines over the year and that depends on when the colleges and schools are back and when they register that employment. So some of those losses may be attributed to seasonal breaks compared to overall losses."
He says overall there was strong job growth in the Quad Cities as we continued to recover from the pandemic.
Illinois gained 259,000 jobs during the past year.
