Meteorologist, John Haase from the National Weather Service in Davenport, says 4.7 inches of snow fell, breaking the previous record of 4.2 which was set 131 years ago on January 1st, 1891. He says a little more snow fell after midnight, so the storm total was 5 inches.
At the weather service office in Davenport, about six inches of snow fell.
Haase says wind speeds around 30 miles per hour allowed snow plows to keep up with the snowfall and any drifting of the dry, fluffy snow.
For the next couple of weeks, Haase says it should be dry. And temperatures will be like a roller coaster. Highs today (mon) and Tuesday should be in the mid-20s to 30s. Then Wednesday, they'll drop into the teens, down to the single digits on Thursday. But then his forecast for the weekend calls for highs in the 20s and 30s.
