The Bennigan's at the Holiday Inn in downtown Rock Island is preparing to close. The Kinseth Hospitality Company has announced that the Irish-American restaurant will close on Sunday and be replaced by the Rock Island Ale House.

The restaurant will be renovated, and could open in late January or early February. In a press release, Kinseth says the new restaurant "seeks to carry out the tradition of bringing the local community together." It will feature locally handcrafted beers and, occasionally, live music.
Bennigan's, which once had 150 locations in the United States, now has only 15, in addition to 18 internationally in Central America and the Middle East.
