  • The Davenport City Council has approved a major contract to purchase body cameras for the city's 150 police officers. The $550,000 deal with technology and software company Axon includes the  cameras, charging equipment, maintenance, and cloud-based storage for video footage.

  • Saint Ambrose University is preparing to celebrate the latest addition to its campus in Davenport. On Friday, it will hold a blessing, dedication, and ribbon cutting for its $20 million wellness and recreation center.

  • Rock Island County will soon start looking for a new county administrator. One month after notifying the county board that he would probably be leaving, Dave Ross has accepted a similar position in Florida.

  • Downtown Rock Island is now home to an education centerwhere people can learn how to buy a house, car, or make other investments. Wednesday, state representatives, local officials, and CEOs cut the ribbon for the new Regional Housing and Financial Education Center at 114 19th Street.
