Davenport Public Works employees are preparing for the Mississippi River to reach flood stage soon, then rise a little more. The National Weather Service says river levels could rise quickly over the next week.
This morning, the forecast says at Lock and Dam 15, the river is expected to reach two feet below flood stage by Monday. It may then rise about two-and-a-half feet more by Thursday.
Davenport residents can pick up sandbags at the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant on South Concord, Monday through Friday, beginning next week. Crews are monitoring conditions, and more information is on the city's website.
