With less than two weeks until the special election, it's time for republicans in Scott County to name their candidate. Party leaders will meet Thursday night to choose a candidate for Iowa House District 89 in west Davenport.
The seat was held by democrat Jim Lykam, but he won a special election in December to the Iowa Senate.
Earlier this month, Scott County democrats chose Monica Kurth as their nominee.
Republicans will meet at their headquarters in Paul Revere Square in Davenport at 7 o'clock.
The special election for District 89 will be held January 31st.
