After a successful year, the leaders of the Family Museum in Bettendorf have been promoted. Today Mayor Bob Gallagher announced director Jeff Reiter will become director of Economic Development for the city, and assistant director, Kim Kidwell, will take over as director.

Last year, revenue for the Family Museum topped 1 million dollars for the first time ever, and attendance was the highest ever, at more than 172,000.
Kidwell says increasing those numbers has been one of their key goals.

She started working at the Family Museum 11 years ago, teaching one day a week, eventually becoming full-time, until a year ago when she was appointed assistant director.

Reiter started as the museum's marketing coordinator 15 years ago, and just last year was promoted to director. He now wants to use his business and marketing skills to promote the city - including the I-80 Middle Road corridor, and the riverfront and downtown.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
