State Senator Mike Frerichs says he'll create more jobs if elected Illinois treasurer next week. The democrat represents Illinois' 52nd District in the Champaign area. He stopped in Rock Island today to talk with local union leaders.

Frerichs says if he wins, he will stop corruption in the treasurer's office and put more money into Illinois' economy.

That's one part of Frerichs' four-point plan if he becomes treasurer. He also wants reform Illinois' college savings program by expanding tax credits for college investments, and  encourage banks to re-invest in low-income communities.

His opponent in the November 4th election is Republican Tom Cross, a state representative from Oswego.
