Augustana College is offering a new financial incentive for local students to enroll. On Wednesday, the college in Rock Island announced the Quad City Promise Scholarship.
President Steven Bahls says the board and local donors have been talking about it for years.
But now, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the college decided to initiate the program to help local students attend college closer to home at Augustana.
Admissions Director, Karen Dahlstrom, says the scholarship will provide $2,000 a year for up to four years to new students from Rock Island, Scott, Henry, and Mercer counties.
High school graduates and transfer students may apply for Augustana's Quad City Promise Scholarship from Friday, May 1st through the end of August.
