Spokeswoman Dawn Saul says starting on Monday, March 4th, 20 minutes will be added to each school day.

Classes will begin 10 minutes earlier in the morning, and they'll end 10 minutes later in the afternoon.

For example, at most Davenport elementary schools, the bell rings to start class at 8:00 A.M. The revised schedule will require students to be at their desks by 7:50 A.M.

So far, the Davenport School District has cancelled classes seven days. And Saul says on six days, students came to school two hours late or left two hours early.

In addition, classes will no longer end early on Wednesdays beginning March 6th. April 22nd will be a full school day instead of a day off.

And finally, one school day has been added to the end of Davenport's academic calendar. So June 6th will be the last day of classes.

The district's bus schedule will also change. It'll be posted on the web before March 4th for parents and students to check.

Saul says the goal is to meet the 1,080 hours required by Iowa law. More information is on the district's website HERE, and the revised calendar is posted below.
