High school students from northwestern Illinois and eastern Iowa can now earn college credit in agriculture for free. Today, Western Illinois University announced the Moline Foundation has donated money for the School of Agriculture to offer dual enrollment to juniors and seniors in high school.
Joy Boruff, President and CEO, says one of the Moline Foundation's goals is to help meet community needs. And that includes helping companies find employees with the right education and skills.
Dr. Andy Baker is the Director of the WIU School of Agriculture. He says the school has hired Professor Al Zwiling to teach four different courses over two years on the Quad Cities campus.
Western plans to begin the agriculture dual enrollment program by offering horticulture next fall and animal science in the spring.
