The University of Dubuque wants to help veterans make the transition from the military to college. Saturday it will dedicate the new Jeffrey Dodge Veterans Center on campus.
Associate vice president, Jesse James, says the center includes study rooms and a game center, plus space for various agencies and programs that provide services for veterans.
The center is named for Jeffrey Dodge, who graduated from the university in 1968, and was killed in action two years later while serving with the Army in Vietnam. Members of his family, friends from college, and some who served with him will attend the dedication.
James says the director of the center is a retired command sergeant major from the Army.

From an enrollment of 2,000, he says about 100 veterans are now attending classes, but the center can also assist spouses and children of veterans.
The dedication of the Jeffrey Dodge Veterans Center at the University of Dubuque begins at 9:30 am Saturday, on the north campus quadrangle.
