More classes for high school students in Davenport could mean lower costs for the school district. As part of an effort to save money, the Davenport School Board tonight will consider changing the high school class schedule from four classes per day to seven.
The district currently follows a block schedule, with four, 90-minute classes a day. Executive director, Robert Scott, estimates the district could save $1.1 million if it returns to a traditional schedule, with seven, 50-minute periods per day.
That would allow the district to cut 23 full time positions.
Members of the Davenport School Board will discuss the possible schedule change at 5:30 pm.
