More than 100 workers on Arsenal Island will be laid off next month.

Today, the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center announced the reduction in force of up to 174 employees. They may also be reassigned.

Commander of the center, Col. Shari Bennett, says demand has decreased, and "the decision to reduce the workforce is difficult but necessary" for "the sustainability of the factory."

The lay-offs will begin with 111 employees between October First and October 24th. And the remaining 63 workers may lose their jobs through September, 2022.
