Six weeks before RAGBRAI, its route inspection team will visit the Quad Cities. This weekend, the ride director and others will pedal to the end of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.

Dixon Novy, a member of the Quad Cities Bicycle Club, will be riding with them as they arrive at the final dip site on Credit Island in Davenport.

Novy says, on Tuesday, the city and tourist officials held a rally to get local residents excited about greeting the riders the last two weekends of next month.

Novy says that double dose of extra business and commerce helps cities and towns within a 60 mile radius of the Mississippi River dip site.

It trickles down up and down the river near the ending town. The Quad City Airport benefits every year. I tell people we're the only airport on the Mississippi River after RAGBRAI.

Many volunteers are needed to help manage 40,000 people on Saturday, July 25th. That's the day RAGBRAI ends, and the date of this year's Quad City Times Bix Seven Road Race. Information is available online at DavenportRAGBRAI.

On Saturday, the inspection tour and Quad Cities Bicycle Club will arrive in Davenport between noon and 1 pm. Then the riders will meet at the Freight House to relax and discuss their trip.
