Season Ending for the Channel Cat

The season ends this weekend for the Channel Cat Water Taxi. It will make its final trips across the Mississippi River on Saturday and Sunday. 

Hours for the final weekend will be 11 am until 6 pm.

Ridership this year has already set a record - it's carried nearly 44,000 passengers.

Service is scheduled to resume next year during Memorial Day weekend.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
