Metro Link officials & others cut a ribbon at the Channel Cat's new dock in Moline.
submitted

The Channel Cat has a new place to call home. This morning, Metro Link held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the water taxi's new landing in Moline.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Garrity says federal funds paid most of the $1. 4 million dock. It's bigger and located just upstream from its former landing.

ADA access to the Channel Cat has been improved. And maintenance employees will have more space to work on the boats.

So far this season, Garrity says the number of water taxi passengers has increased 25%. And she's sure ridership will break last season's record of 43,000.
