Kraft Heinz wants to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, and reach net zero by 2050. To decrease its use of fossil fuels, the company must switch from new plastic to sustainable packaging materials. It already has a goal to make all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable within two years.
Kraft Heinz is employing several strategies to eliminate or reduce virgin plastic use around the world. They include redesigning packaging, replacing plastic with recycled or fiber-based materials, and adopting reusable packaging.
The Kraft Heinz plant in Davenport makes deli meats and Lunchables. It also operates facilities in Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, and Mason City. Its Illinois plants and warehouses are located in Aurora, Champaign, Naperville, and Woodstock, with headquarters in Chicago and Pittsburgh.
