A Quad Cities Father's Day tradition will celebrate its 32nd anniversary this weekend. Each year, River Action sponsors Ride the River, a bike-ride along the Mississippi River on Father's Day.

Executive director Kathy Wine says Ride the River promotes river access and riverfront trails, and it's also a fun, family activity.

Wine says River Action's goal is to complete a trail from the Gulf of Mexico to the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota, starting in the Quad Cities.

She says over 1,000 people are expected to ride the river on Sunday, and the ride includes food, games and activities for children.
