QC Salvation Army Begins Giving Season Early

The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities

Though Christmas isn't for another hundred days, the Salvation Army of the Quad Cities has started its giving season early this year.

The campaign, "Hope Marches On This Christmas," encourages Quad Citizens to donate or volunteer with the Salvation Army, including providing toys and clothing through The Angel Tree.

Marissa Soliz-Davison is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Army of the Quad Cities. She says that since the pandemic began, the organization has provided 25,000 nights of shelter and $820,000 in homeless prevention assistance in the local area. That's despite COVID restrictions and the economic downturn.

"You know, actually, last year was the best Christmas that we've had in a long time. The money that's donated here in the community stays in the community. The Quad Cities is such a giving community--as big and little as we are, we definitely come together for those in need."
