The campaign, "Hope Marches On This Christmas," encourages Quad Citizens to donate or volunteer with the Salvation Army, including providing toys and clothing through The Angel Tree.
Marissa Soliz-Davison is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Army of the Quad Cities. She says that since the pandemic began, the organization has provided 25,000 nights of shelter and $820,000 in homeless prevention assistance in the local area. That's despite COVID restrictions and the economic downturn.
"You know, actually, last year was the best Christmas that we've had in a long time. The money that's donated here in the community stays in the community. The Quad Cities is such a giving community--as big and little as we are, we definitely come together for those in need."
